Location

Santa Catarina is in southern Brazil and is easily accessible from the largest and economically wealthiest cities in the southern and southeastern regions, and is in a strategic position within the Mercosur.

The state borders Argentina in the west. Florianópolis, the state capital, is 1,850 km from Buenos Aires, 705 km from São Paulo, 1,144 from Rio de Janeiro and 1,673 from Brasília. It is situated between the parallels 25º57’41” and 29º23’55” south latitude and between the meridians 48º19’37” and 53º50’00” west longitude.
